Welcome to Chevalier's Books in Los Angeles

Welcome to Chevalier's Books on beautiful Larchmont Boulevard in the heart of Hancock Park in Los Angeles.

For nearly 70 years, this beautiful shop has been a cultural icon for generations of America's most creative readers and authors, an independent bookstore located at the very epicenter of the entertainment industry. From the sidewalk outside our door, you can see the fabled Hollywood Sign and we are but a few blocks to the south of the watertower at Paramount Pictures.

Some of the world's most familiar faces and bylines can be found daily lingering among our shelves, reading and selecting from an unsurpassed literary inventory that is both deeply personal and very current.

So welcome to our world and worlds beyond, teeming with the knowledge, passion, character and personality that only the printed page can provide.

Filis Winthrop

  1. Welcome to the Internet, Chevalier's! Long overdue. This cool bookstore also has one of the best and most complete set of hardback children's classics in the country -- and what they don't have they will get for you in a day or two. Thriving Koreatown is just East of the store and Little Bangkok to the Northeast, so maybe that's why Filis Winthrop who runs the store also stocks a wonderful collection of beautifully illustrated children's books in English featuring Asian legends and fables.
